Medium Yua Shell Ring

A perfectly formed Yua Shell Currency Ring from the Boiken people, East Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea. Adorned with a twine and nassa shell attachment, vibrant red pigment has also been applied. The notches etched into the shell itself indicate the totem bird of the region, the Hornbill.
