This is a large and impressive mask carved by the Kwoma, a remote people. The mask has been created of dense hardwood with a relief fruit bat upon the forehead. Iconic Kwoma facial features and nose, this mask is indicative to the people of this region. Encrusted and glossy patina appears throughout from ongoing handling and ceremonial use.
