Small Coastal Sepik mythical betel nut mortar. Four exquisitely carved faces make up the mid section of this well used hardwood piece. Each face portrays its own characteristic with incisions through the nose. Aesthetically well balanced, this mortar has an ancient stylistic quality. Mid 20th century.
