A large impressive Ancestral Abelam Spirit Figure from the Prince Alexander Mountains. Iconic to the Abelam people, this figure portrays an ancestral form surmounted with the totemic hornbill. A neck collar has been added to the details of the carving, with bulbous legs and arms that make up the remaining form. Natural earth pigments from the Abelam palette have been applied throughout.
