Used by men as a magical hunting charm this amuletic figure is a strong piece despite its small scale. Amuletic figures were owned by New Guinea men in order that they could gain supernatural assistance in hunting, fishing, and in sexual liaison. With classic features, this figure has been used over a long period of time with vibrant trade paint red and yellow applied at a much later date than when it was initially carved. Dates to the 1930's.
