This figure originates from the upper Karawari region, a tributary of the Sepik River, representing a female ancestor. Delicately carved, the piece has motifs etched upon her mid section and blade like ridges along her upper arms forming a halo above the head. A resin like layer has been applied by its owner or village member to preserve the piece.
